Good Riddance Time Of Your Life (ver 5) by Green Day ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) - Green Day ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tabbed by: Eric Kalata This is the bass line I played when I had to play this with a band at my school's baccalaureate for the graduating class. A lot of people liked it so I decided I might as well share it on here. This is for an electric arrangement, but I suppose it would work decent acoustically with some modifications. Tuning: Normal Intro: Wait until the guitarist reaches the D chord in the progression and then do this little lead-in G|-------------------------------------| D|-------------------------------------| A|------------------------5--3--2--0---| E|-------------------------------------| Verse: G|----------------------------------------------------| D|------------------------------2--5--2-----4--7--4---|(x3 the first go around) A|------2--5--2-----2--5--2--3-----------5------------| x4 E|---3-----------3------------------------------------| Pre-Chorus: G|----------------------------------------------------| D|------9--7--5-----7--5--4-----5--3--2---------------| A|---7-----------5-----------3--------------5--3--2---| x2 E|---------------------------------------3------------| Chorus: G|----------------------------------------------------------------------| D|--------9---------------------9---------------------9----------7------| A|---7-------7-------5-----7-------7-------5-----7-------7--5-------5---| E|--------------3-------3-------------3-------3-------------------------| After the chorus return to the verse with no pause. Final Chorus: At the end you can hit either G, depending on what your guitarist does G|-------------------------------------------------------------| D|--------------------------------------------------------(5)--| A|------------------------------------------------5------------| E|---0--------3--------0--------3--------0-----------------3---| If your guitarist does not start off strumming, you should probably play whole or half notes until they start to strum. It would look something like this: Verse: G|------------------------------------------| D|------------------------------------------| A|-----------------------3----3----5----5---| x4 E|---3----3----3----3-----------------------| Pre-Chorus: G|------------------------------------------| D|------------------------------------------| A|---7----7----5----5----3----3-------------| x2 E|--(0)--(0)-----------------------3----3---| Chorus: G|-----------------------------------------------------------------| D|-----------------------------------------------------------------| A|--(7)--(7)-------------(7)--(7)-------------(7)--(7)----5----5---| E|---0----0----3----3-----0----0----3----3-----0----0--------------| Feel free to spice it up with improv or tone it down if it's appropriate. Remember, there is no actual bass line and its your cover. Always branch out and experiment with anything and everything in music if you want to get bigger and better. | / slide up | slide down | h hammer-on | p pull-off | ~ vibrato | + harmonic | x Mute note ===============================================================================
